A weekly edit of brands and products to look out for at Showcase 2024 including colourful, affordable jewellery by Culu Design, unique handmade lamps by BenDec and Irish-inspired gifts by Cowfield Design.
Culu Design
Like many people educated in Ireland, Louise O’Hara founder of Culu Design, spent her early years in school playing with ‘Mala’ - the colourful Irish version of Playdough. She then went on to make polymer clay jewellery in her teens and beyond and is passionate about producing bold, colourful and timeless pieces that exude individuality.
After a 20 year career in the corporate world, O’Hara is now celebrating a full 180 shift and following her creative passions at the age of 40.
With statement jewellery a current trend, alongside a growing consumer desire for everything handmade, Culu Design’s contemporary designs provide a luxe feel at an affordable price point.
“My aim is to create unique pieces and to reflect our individuality while being as sustainable as possible,” says O’Hara. “I want my clients to feel confident and empowered when wearing my jewellery - empowerment and self-expression are the driving force of my brand.”

BenDec
Based in Co. Longford and established in 2019, BenDec is a family-run lighting company owned by father and son Declan and Ben O’Connor.
A skilled electrician for over 25 years, O’Connor works with his teenage son to create handcrafted vintage and modern lighting using repurposed items where possible to create unique, eye-catching designs. Their range of products includes lights and lamps made from unusual items including original Irish musical instruments, original Tilley oil lamps and even Irish bog turf sods.

Cowfield Design
Another family business, Cowfield Design is run by Dad Sean, son Conor and daughter Sarah - each with a passion for Ireland.
Keen to connect their customers with the places they love, they produce a range of products designed to evoke memories and emotions - whether that’s a reminder of a favourite hiking spot or the craic to be had in many of Ireland’s famous watering holes.
Key products in the Cowfield range include the brand's Wild Atlantic Way miniature metal models and their place name pub prints. This year at Showcase, Cowfield Design will present a range of new products including their Wild Atlantic Map and Irish pub playing cards (seen here) and their evocative Mountain Peak prints.
